Situation

Topdressing and rolling are well-established cultural operations performed, in large part, to provide a smooth, firm playing surface on greens and other sports turfs. The proficiency with which these operations are performed, however, determine whether the results are beneficial or detrimental to the overall health and playing quality of a green. Your disappointment with the average stimpmeter readings obtained this morning causes you to question if the manner in which these operations are being performed at your course is suitable. The greens are simply too slow, given the amount of topdressing and rolling conducted so far this year.
