Herbicide and other pesticides are influenced by the environment within which they are used. Abiotic factors in the above-ground atmosphere (temperature, moisture, light, and wind) and in the soil (temperature, moisture, and aeration), as well as above- and below-ground biotic factors (animals and microbes) can all influence the activity, mobility, and persistence of herbicides.
